WHIL RADIO READING SERVICE
& ALABAMA PRINT INFORMATION CENTER

Volunteers read Mobile Register

Since 1989 WHIL has operated a Radio Reading Service to make daily local and national newspapers and other current print information available to anyone who can not read print due to blindness, visual impairment or other disability. We broadcast readings from the Mobile Register and a wide variety of other newspapers and magazines on a "sub-channel" frequency of WHIL. A special radio is required, but anyone unable to read print due to disability is eligible to apply. The Alabama Print Information Center makes many of our broadcast readings available over the Internet as on-demand, streamed audio in the Windows Media format.
